Double-digit spike in gas prices

Posted: Updated:

The price of gas rose by about 20 cents over the last week.

The average price in Texas is $3.35 per gallon. In North Texas, drivers are paying about five cents more than that. The national average is $3.52.

According to analysts, the rising prices can be blamed on climbing oil prices.

A spike in the amount of money it costs you to fill up usually comes every February. We are now in what is called the "Turnaround" season. It's a period of time when refineries cut down on production in order to undergo maintenance and switch to making fuel blends used in warmer weather.
