Penelope Soto in court 2/4/13A bizarre appearance by a woman in a Florida court lands her 30 days in the county jail for contempt.
Penelope Soto appeared in Miami-Dade bond court on Monday, accused of possession of Xanax bars.
Things began to go wrong when Soto was asked how much the jewelry she owns is worth. She laughed and refused to give a straight answer.
The judge then asked if she was under the influence.
Soto proceeded to stroke her hair repeatedly and replied, "Actually, no."
The judge ordered Soto to be held on a $5,000 bond.
While walking away from the judge, Soto said, "Adios." That's when he called her back and increased the bond to $10,000.
"Are you serious?" she asked the judge, who responded, "I am serious. Adios."
Soto walked away again, this time cursing at the judge.
"Did you say [expletive] me? Did you say that?" asked the judge. "Oh, you did say that -- I find you in contempt of court..30 days in the county jail."
