Deputies in Wise County finally have an unusual suspect in custody – a primate who startled homeowners, bit a deputy and terrorized kittens.
The sheriff's office said someone reported finding a "monkey" at their home over the weekend. It bit a responding deputy, despite the fact that he was wearing puncture-proof gloves.
The "suspect" was then taken to the Wise County Animal Shelter, but he was able to escape and harass the cats at the shelter.
Animal control officers later caught him and tentatively identified him as a kinkajou.
He's been named Rat, which is short for Rat Bastard because the officers said he's a mean little guy.
The shelter is still working to determine his exact species and then will make a decision on what to do with him.
The injured deputy was treated for three puncture wounds on his hand.
