Walk in the shoes of an inmate in the Estrella women's jail

Posted: Updated:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio always says he's an equal opportunity jailor. When women break the law, they get the same treatment as men.

In the past two weeks, FOX 10's Troy Hayden has taken us inside the jail cells of accused murderer Jodi Arias, on trial for killing her lover.

He also talked to Jerice Hunter, who will soon face her own trial for the death of her daughter.

Those are just two high profile women inside the Estrella Jail. There are hundreds of lesser known offenders -- and you might be surprised at how they live behind bars.

Shakedowns happen at random, several times a day at Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Estrella women's jail. Detention officers go through inmates' few possessions, looking for contraband.

The time here can be easy or very hard. From minimum security to super max, from accused shoplifters to accused murderers.

In this report, we'll show you life at every level -- something you won't want to see in real life.
