Robbers terrorized victims in Mesquite convenience store

Posted: Updated:

Armed robbers terrorized workers and customers in a Mesquite convenience store.

Surveillance video shows the two men walk into Main Street Munchies around 6 p.m. on Jan. 31. Store owner Amer Kader said one man asked for a pack of cigarettes, then pulled out a gun and aimed it at his head. The suspect jumped over the counter and started raiding the cash register.

Kader said they yelled obscenities and even hit his wife in the head with the butt of a gun. The owner and everyone inside feared for their lives.

"We all thought they're going to kill us anyways," Kader said. "They were not mild about it."

The suspects then turned to an innocent bystander, 19-year-old Cody Reynolds. Reynolds is one of the Main Street Munchkins, a group of kids who hangs out at the store every day.

A robber held a gun to Reynolds' head and dragged him across the floor like a rag doll.

"I thought he was going to shoot me when he got the money," Reynolds said, "but he just threw me back across the floor."

The thieves got away with $6,500. They have not been caught, but police hope the surveillance video will lead to an arrest.
