Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent was in court Thursday morning for the deadly crash that killed his best friend.
It was a preliminary hearing for Brent's intoxication manslaughter case. He did not enter a plea.
Police said Brent was driving with a blood-alcohol content level of more than twice the legal limit when he crashed his Mercedes on Highway 114 on Dec. 8.
The car flipped over and caught fire, killing fellow teammate Jerry Brown, Jr.
The two had left a nightclub shortly before the accident.
After Thursday's hearing Brent's attorney said his client is receiving support from friends and family.
"I've had a lot of people express a great deal of support for Josh and we're very happy for that support," said Attorney George Milner.
Brent's next hearing is scheduled for March 7.
