Two people accused of stealing thousands of dollars from unsuspecting homeowners are now behind bars.
Police said a Rowlett woman responded to an ad on Craigslist and hired 30-year-olds Justin Denson and Annie May Korpob to do some plumbing work at her house.
The pair showed up for the job with a day laborer. They asked for a check to purchase materials and then left. They cashed the check, but never returned to pick up the day laborer or finish the job.
Detectives were able to find Denson and Korpob in a hotel in Irving. They were taken into custody and charged with felony theft.
Police now believe the two are responsible for numerous other similar incidents in the area dating back as far as 2011. Other victims have reported losing more than $10,000.
Victims of the remodeling scam are encouraged to call the Rowlett Police Department at 972-412-6220.
The suspects remain in the Rockwall County jail on $100,000 bond each.
