A young woman was hit and killed on the side of highway in Fort Worth Sunday morning.
The suspect hit the victim in south Fort Worth on Interstate 35W.
The woman, identified as 21-year-old Charayla McMilan, was a passenger in a vehicle when she became ill. The driver of the vehicle pulled over.
"She opened the door. When she opened the door to lean out she was struck," said Larry Livingston, her dad.
Monday would have been McMilan's graduation day from a local nursing program. She also leaves behind a daughter who just celebrated her first birthday about a week ago.
Now the family is planning her funeral.
"It's hard to believe. Still in disbelief although I know it's real," Livingston said.
Police are investigating a possible suspect -- a juvenile who was driving a black pickup like the one witnesses described.
