At first glance, it looked like NASA's Mars rover Curiosity
found a man-made object on the surface of the planet.
The recent discovery appeared to be a shiny, metallic object
– like a hood ornament. But it turned out to be a polished rock.
Scientists said the rock likely has a fine grain, making it
easily sculpted by the wind.
Other shiny discoveries by the rover have been debris that
shook loose during its landing in August.
