PHOENIX -
Thirteen people are displaced after a fire broke out at an apartment complex near I-17 and Camelback Road on Thursday morning.
Firefighters say the fire started on a mattress in an apartment on the first floor and spread to surrounding units.
Neighbors told firefighters the apartment had been empty for three days, and some reportedly heard a crashing noise before the fire started.
Firefighters say they suspect arson but are still investigating.
There were no working fire alarms in the complex.
