About an hour from downtown Chicago lies the suburban community of Channahon. Out in these parts, they're all about rallying around a good cause. In this case we're talking about the St. Baldricks Fox 32 Schools Challenge.
Leading the way here local law enforcement trooper Scott Angus, police officer Mike Lazarri and they're getting a lot of help from students like Liam O'Brien and David Appleton. Both are Baldricks veterans.
"I've gone around my neighborhood and collected a lot. Thousands yep," O'Brien said.
Allison Fronsee knows what they are going through because she's been there and hopefully, done that. A graduate of Channahon schools, the 15-year-old is feeling much better these days.
"I have been cancer free for almost 5 years now," Fronsee said.
So while Allison continues to mend, much of the focus these days around here centers around Aubrey Brooks, a beautiful little girl who is fighting leukemia.
Her mom and dad Matt are so thankful for the outpouring of love and support.
"I think it is great what you guys are doing. They need the research dollars to come up with better treatments, so yes very appreciative," Matt Brooks said. "She is at an age where she really doesn't understand but for us as parents it's so hard."
No doubt it's hard but we're here to help because as we say in the St. Baldrick's Fox 32 Schools Challenge, together we can make a difference.
