Grieving animal lovers held a memorial service for seventeen horses killed in a stable fire last week.
They held the service in northwest Fort Worth.
Rescue teams had a tough time reaching the burning stable Monday.
And while more than a dozen horses died, eight were rescued.
People who risked their lives to save the horses were praised for their efforts.
" No one seems to remember that the first responders--the firefighters, the police officers, the humane society, who fought so hard get these babies out .. and to save the ones they could and mourned over the ones they couldn't get forgotten in the mix because its just their job, said Kate Moore of horse hospice care facility, Beyond the Rainbow.
Fire investigators have not identified the cause of the fire.
Anyone with information is asked to call Fort Worth police.
