Grapevine Police reveal escapee's hideout

Posted: Updated:

Grapevine police showed the media the campsite where a fugitive was living before he was shot and killed.

Over the weekend police found Alberto Morales.

Police say Morales refused to cooperate and lunged toward officers, that's when they shot and killed him.

It happened in a wooded area of Grapevine, a community near the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

The shooting put an end to a massive five-day manhunt that started when Morales escaped Feb. 11 from a Wal-Mart parking lot after stabbing a detective with his eyeglasses.

Detective Jaime Pardinas is out of the hospital and hopes to return home to Miami soon. Pardinas suffered deep stab wounds to his neck, shoulder and back.
