Power outage closes Wheeling High School

Posted: Updated:
WHEELING, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A northwest suburban high school was closed Tuesday due to a power outage.

The Tuesday closure of Wheeling High School due to a power outage was announced on the website of Township High School District 214.

ComEd spokesman John Schoen said the outage was due to a "cable fault" — a faulty electrical cable under the sidewalk at the school that was reported about 7 a.m.

Crews are on the scene digging up the sidewalk to access the cable, which is expected to be repaired by later Tuesday, Schoen said.
