Thanks to chef Creed Ford IV for this recipe.
INGREDIENTS MEASURE
Snickers Bars 4 Each
Bacon Slices 8 Each
Bamboo Skewers 8 Each
Funnel Cake Batter As Needed
Whipped Cream As Needed
Powdered Sugar As Needed
PROCEDURE
Place Bacon slices onto a parchment lined sheet pan.
Cook bacon in oven at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, or until slightly crisp, but not well done. Bacon should still be pliable enough to bend.
Allow bacon to cool to room temperature.
While the bacon is cooling, cut each Snickers bar in half, leaving 2 equal sized pieces.
Wrap one slice of bacon around each Snicker piece, and push a 6 inch bamboo skewer through the Snicker, securing the bacon to the candy.
Holding the skewer stick, dip each Snickerpop into the batter and twist to cover completely.
Holding the stick, slowly dip each pop into a 350 degree fryer, holding briefly to set the batter, then allowing it to free float in the oil.
Cook Snickerpops for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove the pops from the fryer and allow to drain slightly on a paper towel lined plate.
Place the Snickerpops onto a plate and dust generously with powdered sugar.
Serve with cool whipped cream for dipping!
YIELD 8 Snickerpops
