KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) - Andrelton Simmons is getting ready for his longest road trip of the season.

The Atlanta Braves' young shortstop played in Saturday's spring training game against the New York Yankees. In the evening, he's leaving on a 20-hour trip to Taiwan, where he'll play for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic.

A native of Curacao, Simmons says he looks forward to playing in the WBC. But he's also sorry to be leaving the Braves' camp just as the exhibition games are beginning. He says, "I want to go. At the same time, I don't want to leave."

The 23-year-old Simmons is one baseball's brightest young players, and he's taking over a new role with the Braves - leadoff hitter. He says it shouldn't be much of an adjustment.
