Dallas grandmother hospitalized after robbery

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

A Dallas grandmother is recovering from a purse snatching that sent her to the hospital.

Maria Ramos has two black eyes, with one noticeably worse than the other.

The 72-year-old was robbed at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday in front of the Family Dollar store in the 1300 block of Greenville Avenue.

She said a man pushed her from behind when she was just a few steps from the door. After she was on the ground he started pulling at her purse.

"I'm scared. Scared right now too," she said.

"If they can do this to her, they can do this to anybody," added Olivia Jules, her granddaughter.

A witness saw the man running away with Ramos' purse. She had only $20 in it.

There is surveillance video of the crime but police haven't gotten it from the store yet.
