Dallas Area Rapid Transit may extend benefits to domestic partners, including gay and lesbian couples.
The proposal would give health benefits to DART employees' partners and their children. It would affect about 200 people and could cost the agency about $700,000 per year.
A small committee has already given it the okay so on Tuesday it will go before the full board. More discussion is expected in the morning and then a vote could happen in the afternoon.
A majority of the board's 15 members will have to vote in favor of the item for it to pass.
If it does, the changes should go into effect in January.
