DALLAS -

A 4-hour standoff at the LaQuinta Inn in Dallas Thursday afternoon ended peacefully just before 8:00 p.m.

Dallas Police and SWAT officers were prepared in case the standoff turned violent.

Police said Edgar Gonzalez allegedly barricaded himself in a room at the motel on Interstate 30 near Jim Miller Road around 5 p.m.

Police have been looking for Gonzalez for two days. He was wanted on an Outstanding Misdemeanor Family Violence charge and was on probation for a similar conviction.

While officers conducted surveillance on the room he was in, Gonzalez walked onto the balcony. Officers recognized his tattoos and were able to verify his identity.

Officers were able to call Gonzalez but he refused to surrender.

SWAT officers were called in at about 5 p.m.

Negotiations with Gonzalez continued until he surrendered just before 8:00 p.m.

Edgar Gonzalez is charged with Felony Probation Violation (Assault, Family Violence) and Violation of a Protective Order warrant.

There were no reports of any hostages.

Police did close several exits on I-30 in the area because of the incident.
