A Plano man jumped to his death Friday night following a police pursuit.
Plano police spokesman David Tilley says the incident began Friday when a woman called 911 several times expressing concern for the man's welfare. Tilley says officers repeatedly attempted to locate the man and eventually assigned an officer to stay in the man's neighborhood in the event he returned to his house.
Tilley says Friday evening the woman called police again saying she knew the man's location. When police arrived to talk, the man got into his vehicle and drove off. Police attempted to get the man to stop. He finally stopped on a U.S. Highway 75 overpass, got out of his vehicle and jumped onto a DART parking lot below.
Tilley says officers performed CPR on the man. He was taken to a local hospital but died late Friday night.
The name of the dead man has not been released.
