Two children kidnapped in Houston County were found Friday afternoon in North Texas.
Police found 1-year-old Jordan Simpson and 2-year-old Nevaeh Simpson safe inside a house in the 900 block of East Richmond Avenue in Fort Worth.
According to a statewide Amber Alert, their father recently got sole custody because their mother died in December. He took them over to their maternal grandmother's house in Crockett, Texas for a visit but she refused to give them up.
Police said 48-year-old Bonnie Miller left with the children.
There was a third grandchild in her custody. She was legally allowed to leave with the 5-year-old.
The father, who is a deputy with Houston County Sheriff's Office, told authorities that the grandmother had a gun and made threatening comments about harming everyone involved in the custody case.
Miller was hiding out at the Fort Worth home. Officers spotted her 2005 Honda Accord in the area and then found her.
She was arrested at the scene and is being questioned by detectives at the Fort Worth Police Headquarters.
Mack Moore says his sister Bonnie Miller is being wrongly targeted. He said she is not a kidnapper.
"The kids don't know nothing about their daddy. He never did come around. He wasn't around to buy them nothing for Christmas. She had a written statement and they got it documented that her daughter wanted her to be the legal guardian over her kids," said Mack Moore.
Miller is being charged with third degree kidnapping.
If she cannot post bail she will be taken back to Houston County to face charges there.
Bonnie Miller did hire an attorney out of Denton to handle her fight for custody of the kids.
That attorney said he will be filing an emergency order so he can get a court hearing to let a judge decide what's in the best interest of the children.
The children have not been harmed. They are in CPS custody until the father picks them up.
