SAGINAW, Texas -

A 20-year-old man is in jail for allegedly burning a baby with scalding water.

Saginaw police said the family of the 7-month-old boy brought him to a fire station on Wednesday with serious burns on his lower body.

The firefighters thought injuries were bad enough to use Careflite to transport him to the Parkland Burn Unit.

Detectives questioned the family and determined the burns were caused by hot water, but police have not released details about what happened.

Brandel Washington was arrested for injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.

He is being held at the Saginaw jail pending arraignment.

The baby's condition is unknown.
