Volunteers will start patrolling outside Fort Worth elementary schools this fall.
These "Code Blue" volunteers will focus on keeping kids safe.
Before the patrols start, they will receive special training over the summer.
You might also see them in city parks and neighborhoods looking for anyone suspicious.
"They know who we are, and they know what we stand for. And being that that's the case, that's why they go away. Not during school hours, we can definitely protect our turf during school hours," said Code Blue member Jaenice Congress.
Volunteers won't carry weapons, but they will have radios that connect them with police.
This effort is just one of many, across the country, designed to improve school safety following the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
