A suspect is dead after police say he tried to choke an officer this morning.   

Police say Clinton Allen was harassing a woman at an apartment complex in East Oak Cliff, when Officer Clark Staller confronted him.

Police say Allen grabbed the officer by his shirt collar and started choking him from behind. Staller managed to call for backup.

Police say at some point he feared for his life and shot at the suspect.

Allen was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The officer had bruising to his neck.
