The Houston Street Bridge will be closed until October 2014 as crews construct a new street car line.

The major artery that connects downtown and Oak Cliff was shut down Sunday night. While it is closed, Jefferson Boulevard Bridge will carry its load.

This is the first time in its 40 year history that the Jefferson Bridge will carry vehicle traffic. Over the weekend it was restriped for both vehicles and bicycles.
