An infant hospitalized for bad injuries prompts a police investigation in Dallas County.
Police say family members found the 6-month-old unresponsive in a Balch Springs home Monday morning around 6:30 a.m. They called 911, then hung up.
The family drove him to Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite around 7 a.m. Staff there called 911 and the boy was flown to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.
Sources tell FOX 4 the boy is alive, but we do not know his condition.
Meantime, detectives obtained a warrant to search the house and remove evidence. The family is cooperating with investigators. The boy's mother, Shawnna Gonzalez, voluntarily went with police to the station for an interview.
Child Protective Services has been called out to this house on several occasions. A relative says CPS was ordered to take custody of Gonzalez's three children, the infant included, and put them in a relative's care. The source also said Gonzalez and the infant's father, Greg Guajardo, were only visiting his mother's house over the weekend with the baby.
Guajardo was arrested late Monday evening on an outstanding warrant for an unrelated charge.
