Part of the Central Expressway in Dallas could be renamed for the 43rd president of the United States.
State Rep. Dan Branch, a Republican lawmaker from Dallas, wants the seven-mile stretch of the highway between Interstate 30 and Park Lane named the "President George W. Bush Expressway."
It would go by the former president's library at Southern Methodist University, which opens to the public on May 1.
Opponents argue the name could create confusion with the George Bush Turnpike to the north, which is named after the 41st president.
