NEW YORK (AP) - A new online guide lets New York City high school students learn things like whether they need to pass through metal detectors and wear uniforms.
Insideschools.org was launched by New School University's Center for New York City Affairs.
According to the New York Post (http://bit.ly/WGNVRU ), it has information on more than 500 public high schools. It aims to go beyond the Department of Education's A-through-F grading system for schools.
It also allows students to find out about class size, whether current students are inspired by their teachers and feel safe in common areas.
About 10% of eighth graders selecting a high school typically don't get assigned to their top choices. The site can help them determine another school.
