MESQUITE, Texas -
Mesquite police made a gruesome discovery at a home in the 1400 block of Paintbrush Street Wednesday.
Officers found four bodies believed to have been in the home since Saturday morning. That's when someone called 911 to report shots fired.
Police had knocked on the door, but no one answered. They returned later to make sure everything was alright.
Then Wednesday morning officers made another follow-up stop and noticed that there was mail in the mailbox and newspapers in the yard.
At that point, officers decided to go into the locked home to check on the welfare of those inside. That is when officers discovered the bodies.
The dead have been identified as 42-year-old Marcelo Vazquez and his
children, 18-year-old Alejandro Vazquez, and 21-year-old Paulina
Vazquez. The medical examiner is working to identify the fourth person,
an adult female.
A handgun was not far from one of the deceased, according to the police report.
