Fox 4 Exclusive: At home with Deion Sanders

PROSPER, Texas -

Deion Sanders says he is happy and moving forward now that a jury primarily sided with him in the custody battle over his 3 young children.

The NFL Hall of Famer talked exclusively to Fox 4 about the riveting court case, how his children are doing and his pending divorce from Pilar Sanders.

"This is no different than what America is accustomed to. Just so happens a man won. We shouldn't be shocked a man won!" Sanders said.

With the latest court battle behind him, the jury awarding him full custody of his two sons and joint custody of his daughter, Deion Sanders, at his home in Prosper, elaborated on the ruling.

"And managing decisions … I get to choose all educational and all sports and those entities as well, so, pretty much I'm the custodian of all three kids, which I'm elated about," Sanders said.

A weeks' worth of testimony and some courtroom antics detailed the unraveling of the marriage between the NFL Hall of Famer and his wife of 14 years, Pilar Sanders.

"I have very bright children and they're far beyond their years. I'm comfortable in trusting they'll see and expose what needs to be exposed and the truth soon to come," said Pilar Sanders.

Pilar Sanders made those comments leaving the courthouse Tuesday. We asked for a follow-up interview for this story. Her attorney told us she is willing to talk, but so far, she had not responded to our request to schedule a time.

Meantime, Deion Sanders says their children are well and enjoying spring break.

"Everybody's like, ‘oh these kids are damaged.' No! They're not. My kids live a wonderful life. My kids are ready to go on vacation. They don't' care about what went on. They're like,' Daddy can we boogie boards, by cast net , can I get these cargo shorts. Not, ‘Daddy who do I stay with when I come back home."

Next up, the divorce, though Sanders admits he's already in a new relationship with Hollywood movie executive, Tracey Edmonds, who also testified during the hearing.

"They've been prolonging this thing and the expectation of me to put my life on hold while you prolong this is ignorant, I've met a wonderful person," Sanders said. "The prenup agreement is a huge hurdle."

"Finally, I'm glad we can raise our hands up like this is the 4th quarter, cause it's almost over, it's almost over," Sanders said.

Yet, the attorney representing Pilar Sanders said this is more like half time. Sanders said she would appeal the court ruling.
