ANTIOCH, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A north suburban man apparently committed suicide after barricading himself inside his home when police found the body of a woman in the driveway.

The barricade situation and deaths occurred at a mobile home near the intersection of Westlake Avenue and Beach Grove Road in unincorporated Antioch Township, Sgt. Sara Balmes of the sheriff's office said.

The woman was found about 7:58 a.m., reportedly in the driveway, and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was pronounced dead.

The man barricaded himself inside the mobile home near where the woman was found and police set up a perimeter, Balmes said.

The sheriff's Tactical Response Team then made entry to the structure and found the man dead, Balmes said in a statement. A suicide note was found in his vehicle.

The Lake County Coroner's office confirmed a woman was slain, but had no further details.
