FORT WORTH, Texas -

Fort Worth police indefinitely suspended a DWI enforcement officer who was arrested in January for drunken driving.

On Jan. 2 Keller police spotted Nicholas Ramirez driving twice onto the shoulder of the 1700 block of Texas 114 in Westlake. Officers determined he was under the influence, according to the police report.

During a field sobriety test, Ramirez failed two breath tests. His blood alcohol content was 0.188 on the first test and 0.194 on the second, both more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, the report states.

Ramirez was arrested and charged with DWI.

Fort Worth immediately placed him on restricted duty status. His gun and badge were also taken away.

Ramirez had been with the department for four years. He had served with the department's Traffic Division as a DWI Enforcement Officer since August 2012.
