Dallas police made few arrests Saturday as crowds estimated at well over 100 thousand people packed a variety of St. Patrick's Day events.
Dallas police spokesman Gerry Monreal says police made 36 public intoxication arrests during the nearly 18 hours officers worked the variety of events. Police began their patrol activities at 8am Saturday morning with the Dash Down Greenville. The 5K run was followed by the Dallas St. Patrick's Day Parade, the After-Parade Concert and concluded with the Lower Greenville Block Party.
Dallas police did issue almost 250 parking citations and wound up having to tow nearly 20 vehicles. DART increased service to the area in the hope of easing parking problems along the parade route and the areas surrounding the block party. Police estimate 15 thousand attended that block party.
