Chicago's Most Wanted: Bank bandits

Posted: Updated:

The FBI is looking to stop a group of bandits who are raising some big concerns. The FBI has responded to two bank robbery attempts in the past few weeks which have left bank employees shaken, but fortunately unharmed.

The first robbery attempt occurred on February 25th at the Charter One Bank at 120th and South Pulaski in Alsip. In that attempt, 4 males entered the bank and announced the robbery. One of the subjects grabbed and dragged the manager behind the teller counter, while a second subject jumped up onto the counter.

The next attempt took place on March 12th at the Charter One Bank at 95th Street and South Francisco in Evergreen Park. Once again, the subjects dragged the manager away from a desk and tried to rob the bank. Although only two subjects were observed during this robbery attempt, FBI agents believe they were part of the same group that was responsible for the attempt on February 25th.

Agents aren't sure why they left before taking any money. While they were clearly very aggressive during the robbery attempt and intimidated the bank employees, something may spooked them before they were able to take any money.

These types of robberies are referred to as "takeover" robberies. In a takeover robbery the subjects almost always carry weapons, they are much more aggressive, and they pose more of a threat than a traditional bank robber. The traditional robber usually acts alone and discreetly passes a note to a teller. Although no weapons were observed or implied during either of these robberies, it's safe to at least consider the subjects as armed and dangerous, and certainly with two failed attempts, there is a good chance they may strike again.

The FBI is offering a reward for information that leads to their arrest, and is hoping that with the reward and this profile, they'll be able to identify and apprehend these individuals before they attempt another robbery.

Here is the FBI's description of the suspects:

--four black males with dark complexions

--between 5' 7'' and 5' 11''

--thin to medium builds

-mid 20's to early 30's

--one robber had shoulder length dreadlocks

They are considered a danger to the community. If have any information you are asked to call police.
