A Highland Park woman is out on bond after her arrest on child endangerment.
Leslie Toomay, 32, was arrested after police found a 1-year-old child alone in the Toomay home. Police responded to a burglar alarm in the house and when they arrived the found the front door open, lights and TV on inside.
The 14-month-old has special needs and was found laying under a play mobile. The toddler had a feeding tube and the police report said she appeared unable to roll over or crawl.
According to the police report, "Toomay intentionally left the residence leaving her 14 month old physically, mentally and developmentally disabled child, in an upstairs bedroom without providing reasonable and necessary care."
Toomay told police she left the home to take her other daughter to a play facility nearby.
She got back about 10 minutes after police arrived and told them it was a "miscommunication" with her husband. She thought he would be home to take care of the child.
