A man was killed early Monday morning when he got out of his car on Interstate 30 in East Dallas.
Deputies say the victim pulled over on the westbound side of the interstate around 12:30 a.m. near Buckner Boulevard. He then got out of his orange Mercedes and was struck the by a woman who says she did not see him. She stayed at the scene until law enforcement arrived.
The man's car was loaded with an assortment of different items and it appears as though he was a scrap collector. Some of those items were found on the roadway not far from where the accident happened. Investigators believe the man was trying to retrieve them and that is why he got out of his car.
No charges have been filed.
