Shorter wait times among Dallas 911 improvements

Posted: Updated:

Shorter wait times are among the improvements Dallas has made to its 911 system after changes were made last year.

In September 2012 it took 15 seconds on average for a call to be answered and only about 70% of calls were answered within ten seconds.

Over the past five months more supervisors have been hired at the Dallas call center. A swing shift has also been added and call taker salaries have been adjusted.

By February, the average time to answer a call has dropped by two seconds and nearly 96% of calls were being answered in ten seconds.
