A man has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after shooting another driver on 635 overnight.
Around 1 a.m. Monday, Mesquite police received a call from a motorist saying he was following what he believed to be a drunk driver.
The caller continued to follow the vehicle until it stopped on 635 in a lane of traffic. At that point, according to Mesquite police, the suspect got out of his car with a handgun and shot 15 times into the vehicle of the caller.
Mesquite police say one of the rounds struck the caller in the head. He was subsequently transported to a Dallas hospital where he remains in stable condition as of Monday morning.
The suspect called Mesquite police and drove himself to the station where he turned himself in.
