The first of four drug houses was bulldozed in a West Dallas neighborhood today.
The homes were once owned by members of the notorious street gang known as the Gator Boyz.
The group controlled the drug trade in West Dallas for more than a decade, with police saying they would recruit members as young as 14-years-old.
The situation began to change in spring 2010 when gang leaders were sent to prison.
Now, the physical landscape of the neighborhood will change as well.
With the help of federal, state and local law enforcement and a title transfer to Habitat for Humanity, new homes will go up later this spring.
