Snowbird from Colo. wins $1 million jackpot in Arizona
A snowbird who was visiting Arizona is the winner of Powerball's second prize of $1 million.
Craig Krause came forward and claimed his prize at the Arizona Lottery Phoenix office Tuesday. He bought five Quick Pick tickets on Friday, March 22 at the Fry's Food store at 542 E. Hunt Highway in Queen Creek.
Krause checked his ticket Monday morning, after the drawing Saturday night. He matched five of the numbers on his ticket, worth $1 million.
According to the Arizona Lottery, this is the 21st $1 million Powerball second prize winning ticket sold in Arizona since $2 Powerball launched in January 2012.
"I don't have any plans for the money because I wasn't expecting to be a winner," Krause said. "I'll probably pay off some bills and share with my family."
Krause works in construction and has been traveling to Arizona for the last three years.
As for the first prize of $338 million, a New Jersey man took that home by matching five numbers plus the Powerball.
