Sex assault suspect police chase ends in apparent suicide

Posted: Updated:

A child sex assault suspect committed suicide after leading officers on a two-hour long chase.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner ruled Wednesday afternoon that Noah Michael Timmons died from suicide caused by a gunshot to the head.

Timmons, 26, was driving away from his house as Balch Springs officers showed up on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. to serve Timmons warrants on four counts of aggravated sexual assault.

The arrest warrant affidavits detail sexual acts done to a six-year-old girl multiple times. The girl is the daughter of Timmons ex-girlfriend, who told police to arrest him.

The suspect took off in a white truck with a trailer hooked behind. He led police on a high-speed chase, at some points reaching 100 mph, in the Balch Springs and Mesquite areas.

Police say Timmons fired on officers nine times when the chase was at Northwest Highway and 635.

Around 10 p.m., the suspect's truck hit spike strips. Sparks flew as the truck skidded to a stop, finally hitting the median in the westbound lanes of I-30, near the Bass Pro Lane exit.

Police approached the truck slowly, but it soon became clear the suspect was no longer a threat as the suspect apparently committed suicide.

No civilians or police were hurt in the lengthy chase.

According to public records, Timmons was serving probation for an aggravated robbery in Garland in 2008.
