7 safe after Mesa home catches fire

Posted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -

Seven people are safe after their home near Higley and University caught fire on Wednesday morning.

Mesa Fire says the fire started in the basement, but they're still investigating how and what started the fire.

They say the home isn't a loss, but utilities had to be disconnected for safety purposes.

Four adults and three teens live at the home; no one was injured. The family will be temporarily displaced, but have a place to stay in the meantime.

Crews say there were working and activated smoke detectors.
