Police Hunt For 2 Men Connected To Northridge Abduction

Posted: Updated:
Northridge, CA -

(FOX 11) It's a sad but strange story -- and it's getting more complicated.

This involves the reported kidnapping and assault of a 10-year-old girl from her Northridge home earlier this week. Thankfully she was found alive, but as details of her ordeal surface, what she was went through can only be described as horrific.

Poor little girl.

Detectives with the LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division have been working around the clock trying to find the monster -- or monsters -- that did this and they're not ruling anything or anyone out. Because in a bizarre twist, it turns out that two of the girl's uncles, brothers John and George Silah, are convicted kidnappers themselves.

How's that for a twist?

In 2008, the Silah brothers abducted their own sons -- the girl's three cousins -- from their mothers, who had legal custody. Then they went on the run, moving from country to country for two years.

The case got a lot of publicity and was even featured on "America's Most Wanted."

In 2010, the Silah brothers were found and arrested in the Netherlands. The three boys were returned to their mothers and the men sentenced to prison for 27 months each. They were released about six months ago.

Could this case be connected? Or is this just a bizarre coincidence? What do you think?

Regardless of who did it or the backstory -- and there's more -- the important thing is that police get these guys off the street.

If you know something, call the LAPD at 213-486-6890.

Officials say a 16-year-old boy is "lucky to be alive" and unharmed after flying from California to Hawaii stowed away in a plane's wheel well, surviving cold temperatures at 38,000 feet and a lack of oxygen. "Doesn't even remember the flight," FBI spokesman Tom Simon in Honolulu told The Associated Press on Sunday night. "It's amazing he survived that."
