The Talker: McDonald`s nutritionist says its food is healthy

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

McDonald's nutrition director, registered dietitian Cindy Goody, says the food at Mickey D's is healthy.

Goody spoke last week at a meeting of nutrition and dietetics in Utah and while she was there, she referred to McDonald's "nutritionally balanced menu of choices."

A reporter asked her flat-out if she thinks the meals at McDonalds are healthy and nutritious, to which she responded: Yes. I do."

Goody said she was able to lose all thirty pounds of her baby weight while eating at McDonalds a couple times a day.

Cindy Goody says it's about choices. You can look at the calorie counts and choose to eat healthy things at McDonald's. For example, your child can choose to get the apple slices instead of the french fries.

On April 1, McDonald's is launching a campaign to promote its new Premium McWrap line to attract the customers who are presently going to Subway for a "healthy" sandwich. Depending on your selection, the wraps range from 360 to 600 calories, 9 to 30g fat, 23 to 30g protein, 2 to 3g fiber, and 1,030 to 1,420mg sodium.

Do you think McDonald's is actually getting healthier? Or do they just have good PR? Sound off on our Facebook page.
