Fort Worth man convicted of capital murder

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A 23-year-old Fort Worth man has been convicted of capital murder in the death of a man during a 2011 home invasion robbery.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram ( ) reports Marquise Brooks was automatically sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole after his conviction Thursday. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty.

Twenty-5-year-old Kevan Dunlop was found dead in a closet of a Fort Worth apartment in January 2011.

Prosecutors say Dunlop and three friends were playing a video game when four men burst in. At least two intruders started shooting.

2 of Dunlop's friends were seriously wounded. The third broke a leg jumping from a second-story window.

A co-defendant who pleaded guilty to murder is serving a 35-year sentence. Courts records show two others are awaiting trial.
