Police: Driver tries to hit crowd, officer opens fire

Posted: Updated:

A Dallas police officer fired a shot early Saturday morning at a driver who was allegedly trying to run people down with his car.

Off-duty officers were working at a bar on Sunset Avenue, when someone told them there was a fight in the parking lot across the street.

When officers approached, they saw a vehicle seemingly attempting to run over groups of people.

Police say the driver, 23-year-old Eduardo Solis, started driving toward the officers.

One officer fired at the vehicle, which then sped out of the parking lot.

The vehicle was discovered several blocks away and Solis was arrested for aggravated assault on a public servant.

No one was injured.
