Part of the dedication ceremony for First Baptist Church in Dallas on Sunday was a visit from Governor Rick Perry, who spoke from the pulpit. The Southern Baptist megachurch celebrated the opening of its brand new $130 million facility.
The church features include a 150 foot wide screen and a 3,000 seat worship center. In addition to Governor Perry, former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert also attended Sunday's service. But, some have said Governor Perry's appearance at First Baptist Dallas was just political strategy.
Church Pastor, Dr. Robert Jeffress, supported the Governor's 2012 bid for the Republican Presidential nomination. Perry is expected to announce by the end of this year whether he will try for a run at the White House in 2016. But, if Dr. Jeffress would support Perry in a second Presidential campaign, isn't clear.
