PHOENIX -

A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed by a DPS officer Sunday night. Investigators say the teen was driving a stolen SUV when he tried to run that officer over.

Investigators say that 15-year-old stopped the Suburban when the officer initiated a traffic stop after running the plates and realizing it was stolen. As that officer stood in front of the car waiting for backup, police say the 15-year-old revved his engine and drove towards the officer. That's when the officer opened fire.

The teen then lost control, and that SUV ended up crashing through a cinder block wall and into Bill Boone's home, near 35th Avenue and Camelback.

"All of a sudden we heard the bash, the car going into the house," says Boone. "You could see the lights were still on the car and the tires were still spinning."

15-year-old Alexander Wilson was found dead behind the wheel from an apparent gunshot wound.

The SUV was lodged in the back storage area. No one inside the house was hurt.

"The cop took fire at the car, shot my little brother in the head," says William Brown. He was a passenger in that stolen SUV when it happened. Once the SUV crashed into the house...

"I hopped out and I ran," says Brown.

Brown eventually came back to talk to Phoenix Police. They're handling the investigation since it involves a DPS officer. He was "released pending review."

As for the Boone's, they've already started repairs. It's going to take a lot of time and work to fix the back of their home and their fence.

"All the way around, it's sad, you know."

The 15-year-old's family told FOX 10 a friend let him borrow the car and Wilson didn't know it was stolen.

Investigators say that 15-year-old may have been running from officers because he had a felony warrant for armed robbery.
