How to make your ride last forever

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Lauren Fix, The Car Coach, has the following suggestions to make your vehicle last on the road longer.

Critical Fluids: Using the proper motor oil helps extend oil change intervals, saving money and reducing harmful effects on the environment with less oil disposed. Getting the right oil for your engine makes a HUGE difference.

Clean out the Engine: For around $15 you can save $100's by cleaning your fuel system. Use a fuel system cleaner and stabilizer that is safe for gasoline and diesel vehicles. It can restore and improve fuel economy, increase horsepower, reduce deposit-related engine knocking and pinging and is a superior corrosion and oxidation inhibitor. Lauren has some money saving tips to help.

Check the rubber parts: Wiper blades, tires, hoses and belts can not only leave you on the side of the road, it can leave you with a large maintenance bill. Rubber parts are not good forever and need to be visually checked, especially following the wear and tear dished out by winter weather.

Clean the Outside of Your Car From the Winter: Spring is the perfect season for a fresh start, especially for your vehicle. Lauren talks about methods to restore your vehicle to a storeroom-like shine, requiring minimal time and effort, while protecting your investment from harmful road elements both inside and out.
