Lawsuit: Denton ISD did nothing to stop improper relationship

Posted: Updated:

Parents of a former Denton high school student filed a lawsuit against Denton ISD for allegedly doing nothing to stop one of its teachers from preying on their daughter.

Dennis Mason says the district knew about the improper relationship former choir teacher Michael Pricer had with his daughter.

According to the lawsuit, Pricer began seducing the girl during her senior year. The lawsuit alleges the relationship became sexual in nature near the end of the girl's senior year.

In one instance, a neighbor called the principal of John H. Guyer High School to report that Pricer's car was at the girl's house when the parents weren't home. According to the lawsuit, school administrators confirmed it was Pricer's car, saw him at the house, but did not tell the parents or police.

"It's hard to believe this could happen amongst people who cared at all about kids," Mason said. "I'm a father and this is my child so it's very difficult."

The family's attorney, Drew Christman, says Pricer didn't resign until the girl graduated. Christman tells FOX 4 Denton ISD officials didn't call police until the Masons told them what happened.

Pricer was arrested in January and charged with improper relationship with a student.
